If you are using an OpenTX radio, then you should know that OpenTX actually has a bug that introduces high USB link latency. EdgeTX is a fork of OpenTX, and it addresses the issue since version 2.5. OpenTX works just fine by all means, but if you want to have the best possible experience flying simulators, I recommend flashing EdgeTX to your OpenTX radio. I really like the new system where you can race with the ghosts of pilots similar to your ranking. This system can motivate you to play, improve and move up your racking too. DRL is the online simulator that allows pilots on different platform to play together which is fun.
For a beginner, a simulator can be used almost entirely for practice to build up muscle memory and learning. As you progress however, real world practice becomes more and more important to achieve peak performance.
Hi Oscar, one good free simulator as well, which is a stripeed down version of RotorRush created to the Tiny Whoop team is the Tiny Whoop Go. tinywhoopgo.com/ it is quite fun and also event friendly. Small user base currently though, but RAB is planning some events soon on it .

Please have a look at GTA5 with Quadcopter Mod. For a few bucks (and if you have a good gamepc) it has the best graphics and also the physics is very good! I have tried all and i must say after you have played with the physcis settings in GTA it feels as good as the other simulators
A new simulator called Zephyr came out recently. It seems awesome so far, they have a bunch of training challenges and a screen pops up after each challenge that shows you where you can improve. It looks like it was primarily made to teach new pilots how to fly, but it could also be a good tool for experienced pilots to stay fresh on the sticks. I also fly CGM Next on OS-X mostly with helicopters. Graphics is not very fancy, but for helicopter sim this does not matter. FPV experience is quiet good in my opinion with multiroter and helicopters, too. Btw, thanks Oscar for your great articles on multi rotors, i learned a lot!
Hi OscarThere is new release for Quadcopter FX simulator on android which supports Google Cardboard VR where you can Look around in 3D environment and see your quad flying as in real life. Also the FPV experience with google cardboard is simply amazing. You guys will forget PC simulators after trying that.
I have bought freerider FPV and have to say, that its AWESOME. Very realistic (not ultimately, but its simulator no real life). It costs few bucks and you get updates every other day. I really recommend it.

An extreme ultraviolet (EUV) single attosecond pulse passing through a laser-dressed dense gas is studied theoretically. The weak EUV pulse pumps the helium gas from the ground state to the 2s2p(1P) autoionizing state, which is coupled to the 2s2(1S) autoionizing state by a femtosecond infrared laser with the intensity in the order of 1012 W/cm2. The simulation shows how the transient absorption and emission of the EUV are modified by the coupling laser. A simple analytical expression for the atomic response derived for δ-function pulses reveals the strong modification of the Fano lineshape in the spectra, where these features are quite universal and remain valid for realistic pulse conditions. We further account for the propagation of pulses in the medium and show that the EUV signal at the atomic resonance can be enhanced in the gaseous medium by more than 50% for specifically adjusted laser parameters, and that this enhancement persists as the EUV propagates in the gaseous medium. Our result demonstrates the high-level control of nonlinear optical effects that are achievable with attosecond pulses.
Recording the transmitted spectrum of a weak attosecond pulse through a medium, while a strong femtosecond pulse copropagates at variable delay, probes the strong-field dynamics of atoms, molecules, and solids. Usually, the interpretation of these measurements is based on the assumption of a thin medium. Here, the propagation through a macroscopic medium of helium atoms in the region of fully allowed resonances is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. The propagation has dramatic effects on the transient spectrum even at relatively low pressures (50 mbar) and short propagation lengths (1 mm). The absorption does not evolve monotonically with the product of propagation distance and pressure, but regions with characteristics of Lorentz line shapes and characteristics of Fano line shapes alternate. Criteria are deduced to estimate whether macroscopic effects can be neglected or not in a transient absorption experiment. Furthermore, the theory in the limit of single-atom response yields a general equation for Lorentz- and Fano-type line shapes at variable pulse delay.
Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is the most commonly used material in the manufacture of customized cell culture devices. While there is concern that uncured PDMS oligomers may leach into culture medium and/or hydrophobic molecules may be absorbed into PDMS structures, there is no consensus on how or if PDMS influences cell behaviour. We observed that human umbilical cord blood (CB)-derived CD34(+) cells expanded in standard culture medium on PDMS exhibit reduced CD38 surface expression, relative to cells cultured on tissue culture polystyrene (TCP). All-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) induces CD38 expression, and we reasoned that this hydrophobic molecule might be absorbed by PDMS. Through a series of experiments we demonstrated that ATRA-mediated CD38 expression was attenuated when cultures were maintained on PDMS. Medium pre-incubated on PDMS for extended durations resulted in a time-dependant reduction of ATRA in the medium and increasingly attenuated CD38 expression. This indicated a time-dependent absorption of ATRA into the PDMS. To better understand how PDMS might generally influence cell behaviour, Ingenuity Pathway Analysis (IPA) was used to identify potential upstream regulators. This analysis was performed for differentially expressed genes in primary cells including CD34(+) haematopoietic progenitor cells, mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC), and keratinocytes, and cell lines including prostate cancer epithelial cells (LNCaP), breast cancer epithelial cells (MCF-7), and myeloid leukaemia cells (KG1a). IPA predicted that the most likely common upstream regulator of perturbed pathways was ATRA. We demonstrate here that ATRA is absorbed by PDMS in a time-dependent manner and results in the concomitant reduced expression of CD38 on the cell surface of CB-derived CD34(+) cells. 2ff7e9595c
